Champions’ Crack Twirler Hold Jimmy Collins’ Batsmen to Four Safe Drives
Hughes is Knocked Out
Boston, Oct. 3 – Pittsburg won the third game of the world’s championship series here to-day, defeating the Boston Americans 4 to 3. Almost 19,000 persons circled the field.
Fair hits into the crows went as two-baggers. The police had considerable difficult in clearing the field for play, and later in keeping the people from encroaching on the field. Thus the playing conditions varied somewhat from inning to inning, but probably without influencing the result.
Phillipe pitched another superb game for Pittsburgh, holding the Bostons to four hits. Hughes started in to pitch for Boston, but was knocked out of the box in the third inning.
