Thomas Madison Fisher was born March 28, 1841 in Shelbyville, Kentucky, the son of Horatio Appoen Fisher and Hannah Mariah Eads. He was a carpenter. Fisher was 6’1”, with a light complexion, blue eyes and light hair. Thomas Fisher was promoted to corporal on May 15, 1864. He married Laura Virginia Nicklen in Lincoln, Missouri on August 30, 1868. Thomas and Laura had three sons: Edwin Bond (1876-1921), William Decatur (1879-1953) and James Eads (1881-1902) and three daughters: Irene Fisher (1869-1887), Katherine May Fisher Kamper (1874-1967) and Annie Laurie Fisher Hocher (1889-1945). Tom Fisher died in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 3, 1930.
