Remembering Corporal William Thomas Middleton, Company A of the Fifteenth Kentucky


William Thomas Middleton was born in Shelby County on January 31, 1840, the son of James Scott Middleton and Amanda Storts. A farmer, he was 5’10”, with a light complexion, gray eyes and light hair. Corporal Middleton reenlisted and was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on December 15, 1863. Middleton married Priscilla Jane Bright (1843-1935) on November 6, 1866 in Oldham County. William and Priscilla had six sons: William Coleman Middleton (1868-1948), James Bright Middleton (1869-1939), Thomas Storts Middleton (1871-1968), Arthur F. Middleton (1873-?), Hardy D. Middleton (1874-?) and Weaver Scott Middleton (1878-1957) and three daughters: Harda Drane Middleton (1874-?), Metchie Middleton (1876-?) and Mary Malvina Middleton (1881-1905). Middleton died of a stomach disorder at Todd’s Point, Shelby County, on March 28, 1898. He is buried at Todd’s Point Cemetery.
