Remembering Private George Deering, Company A of the Fifteenth Kentucky

George Deering was born on September 18, 1841 in Louisville, the son of Seriah Stratton Deering and Mary J. Stringer. He was a miller before the war. Deering was 5’9” and had a light complexion, blue eyes and dark hair. Private Deering was discharged on November 6, 1863 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to accept promotion as first lieutenant and adjutant of the Seventeenth Kentucky Infantry. He married Sallie Rose Wilson in Louisville on February 4, 1875. Deering died on February 20, 1884. I have been unable to find any record that George and Sallie had children.
