John B. Shindler was born in Shelby County, Kentucky in 1839, the son of John Shindler and Mary F. Campbell. He was 5’7”, with a light complexion, gray eyes, and dark hair. Private Shindler died of typhoid fever on May 22, 1863, in the regimental hospital near Murfreesboro.
