John Driscoll was a thirty-year-old laborer from Ireland. Driscoll was 5’3”, with a fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair. Driscoll married Mary Anne Corbett on October 11, 1859. Driscoll enlisted in Louisville on October 18, 1862. Although regimental records show that Private Driscoll deserted August 19, 1863, at Cowan Station, Tennessee, Driscoll later served in the regular army with Companies B and E of the Sixteenth United States Infantry, suggesting that either the records were mistaken or the charges were resolved somehow. Driscoll died on February 9, 1908. He and Mary Anne had four sons: John (1864-1890), Timothy (1868-1955), William James (1872- ) and Charles (1879- ) and three daughters: Mary Agnes Driscoll Bradley (1863-1932), Katie (1865- ) and Emma Jane Driscoll O’Meara (1870-1928).
