Lewis Bennett was born in Utica, New York, and was twenty-three when he joined Company A. A blacksmith, Bennett was 5’7 ½” with a light complexion, gray eyes and light hair. Lewis Bennett was wounded at the Battle of Perryville, October 8, 1862. From January through April 1863, Bennett served on the Brigade Provost Guard. He died at the National Soldiers’ Home in Sawtelle, California on June 28, 1926.
