Samuel Albert was born in Jefferson County, Kentucky, the son of Samuel Albert Sr. and Mary C. Shivley. Nineteen at the start of the war, he was a farmer. Albert was 5’5 ¼” and had a light complexion, brown eyes and dark hair. Private Albert was discharged on April 9, 1863 in Louisville on a certificate of disability based on chronic rheumatism aggravated by exposure.
