Two Called Up to the Chicago Giants

From the Paducah Sun, October 30, 1905

To Play With Chicago.

Today’s Cairo Bulletin says: A pair of negro baseball players of Cairo will play with the “Chicago Giants,” the champion negro ball team of the world, next season. The players are Pearl Head, an outfielder, and Louis Thomas, an infielder. Head and Thomas are members of the “Paducah Nationals,” the champion negro team of the south. The Paducah team played the Chicago team a series of games at Chicago several weeks ago. The management of the “Giants” took a fancy to the playing of the Paducah negroes and signed several them for next year. Pearl Head and Louis Thomas of Cairo were among those secured for the Chicago team.
